Make Digital Books Norm, not a Luxury

Creating digital books means being familiar with design, composition, preparation, metadata insertion, distribution, promotion. When we talk about books and ebooks, we are not faced with a fight between a paper book and a digital book, but rather an editorial ecosystem that becomes more complex every year.

To take note of the characteristics of the book on digital support like Imagahub and to think about it is necessary, at least for those who want to make the most of the opportunities that digital and the Internet offer for didactic innovation. But it must be said and reiterated that no teacher or educator will be able to positively respond to a commitment of this kind if first of all he will not have seriously tried it on himself. The use of the digital book as a learning resource risks losing much of its potential if the teacher, before adopting it as an experience of meditation, does not experience a direct, personal experience.

We, therefore, invite all those who question themselves about the educational values of digital reading and the use of digital books at Imagahub within their teaching activities to experiment on themselves, completely, the range of possibilities that the change of infrastructure entails. Because, in fact, the change of infrastructure is: that is something that derives from (and involves) underlying aspects, deeper and often hidden from those that are usually seen and highlighted.

In other words, the passage from the press infrastructure (where we find different media but sharing the same type of production and reception, like the book, the magazine, the poster) to the digital and network infrastructure (where we find media such as the computer, the smartphone, the tablet) opens important revisions of the terms of learning and teaching because it touches, reconfiguring, some basic prerogatives of reading.
